Menya Hanabi - The Original Nagoya Mazesoba

Friend recommended this place to me. Come in, get seated, and menu is a qr scan code that takes you to a link online. I ordered the curry mazesoba and it was honestly really good. You mix all the ingredients together, but i tried a little of each at first. I also liked the the monster hanabi fries, good to share with another person, while also haveing a lot of meat on top.

I am so ecstatic that Menya Hanabi is now in the OC area! The first location is in Arcadia and I’ve ate there many times (in-store and to-go) since I live in the 626 area. I recently have been working in OC and can now enjoy my favorite mazesoba for lunch and dinner! The food itself is so delicious! It has flavor, umami, and depth all in one bowl. You can tell that each bowl is made with love and uses fresh and real ingredients. I love the variety of entree choices there are as well and each time I try to get something different to try everything. I recommend adding their poached egg so it makes everything creamy and yummy! Their spicy is also quite spicy for me since it’s all in the meat which is their sauce overall, but it’s so good for a once in a while meal. Another fave is their curry!! At the end of the meal, when dining in, they’ll offer a small scoop of rice to add to your bowl since most of the time, there will be leftover sauce. It mixes soooo well and the small scoop is more than enough for me since I’d be so full already. Can’t let the sauce go to waste though take it to-go if you need to! :p We got the original and chashu! Can never go wrong with the classic. Also, I recommend their iced homemade matcha latte. Thank me later!! Service is great even though they’re in soft opening at the moment! They came to check on us a few times. I noticed the owner went around to make sure tables had everything they needed or asked how everything was. We did come on a Friday evening and it was quite packed, so I’d prepare to wait for at least 10-15 minutes just in case. Overall, we love Menya Hanabi!! Come visit regardless if you’re trying for the first time or a long time fan. Congrats on this 2nd location!! :)

We ordered the Original Nagoya Mazemen and the Deluxe Mazemen. The only difference is the deluxe came with an extra egg and 2 chashu. We chose both mazemen to be spicy but you can choose non-spicy for any of the mazemen. Once seated, all you need to do is scan the QR code at your table and place the order from 1 device (they recommend not placing orders on multiple devices so that your orders will come at the same time). Love the taste and the thick noodles, the minced pork was well seasoned and saucy. If you've tried Mogu Mogu, the flavor profile is the same. Menya Hanabi does give you a bit more sauce than Mogu Mogu, so you'll have plenty of sauce left at the end to mix with your complimentary rice. You can also order a side of broth here. Suggestion to come in 20-30 min before they open..this restaurant is packed. Unless if u dont mind the wait. Order via QR code. The chicken karage was okay at least we tried. The rest of the food is delicious! I like the texture of the noodles. The soup is extra. If you don't want your noodle to be soupy, my suggestion is to share. We also have the deluxe noodles and famiky really like it. also, they give perfect size or amount of the one small scoop of white rice to finish up with the mince meat! Argh.. so good... anyway..highly recommended!

I used to love Menya Hanabi’s mazesoba when I lived in Japan, and I was beyond excited to find it here in Irvine! This is the best mazesoba I’ve had in the U.S. — rich flavors, perfectly cooked noodles, and amazing toppings. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese mazesoba, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be back!

Hands down the best Nagoya-style soba in Irvine! Menya Hanabi absolutely delivers. The flavors are bold and rich, and the texture of the soba is perfect. Stirring in the raw egg on top creates this creamy, umami-packed bite that’s just next-level satisfying. Service is fast, efficient, and friendly—perfect for a quick but amazing meal. Delicious!! I loved the cream one way better than the original! Wish it was a staple item. The matcha latte was REALLY good! Not too sweet and had a really great, strong matcha flavour and was mixed really well. They were playing Linkin Park music and older rock music from early 2000s which I LOVED. It was super nostalgic, haha. I want to come back to try their appetizers! BTW, it’s card only.

Lots of flavor. Tried the Original Mazesoba (spicy. If you’re someone who likes a little kick of flavor the spicy will definitely hit that. It’s just the right amount of spice. We also tried the Karaage, and Mentai Mayo Takoyaki. The entrees took about 20 plus minutes to be brought out, however the server did mention the wait time so it was expected. We left full, and satisfied. Even though there is a wait they move pretty efficiently. Give em a try.
